OUR ACTIVITIES
Our mission is rooted in a commitment to serve the most vulnerable populations, integrating sustainable solutions into all of our work. In the Canadian civil society sphere, we are recognized for our dynamic participation and significant contributions to discussions on climate adaptation, humanitarian relief, and gender equity. By creating strategic partnerships and advocating for impactful policies, Acted Canada enhances the effectiveness of our global missions, embodying a spirit of innovation and a continuous drive for positive change.
Triple Nexus Working Group and Conversions Forum
Acted Canada advocates for the Triple Nexus approach, a seamless integration of Humanitarian, Development, and Peace interventions. This approach is designed to lead communities towards self-sufficiency. By facilitating connections between Canadian civil society, governments and global networks, we are creating a collaborative ecosystem aimed at addressing today’s most pressing challenges through an innovative approach. Our Triple Nexus CSO Working Group is at the forefront of this endeavor, steering efforts to ensure that all our organizations are leading to sustainable and meaningful change.
This fall 2024, the Triple Nexus Working Group in collaboration with Convergences will be hosting a landmark conference. This event promises to be a pivotal gathering of many sectors and influences, focusing on the intersection of Humanitarian, Development, and Peace initiatives. Convergences aims to spark dialogue, forge partnerships, and set the stage for collaborative projects that embody the Triple Nexus approach. If you are interested in exploring partnership opportunities and contributing to this transformative event, we invite you to reach out. Together, we can drive forward a united agenda for change.
AGORA approach
The AGORA initiative, a strategic collaboration between Acted and Impact Initiatives, epitomizes the “Think Local, Act Global” ethos, offering an innovative, area-based approach to support individuals in fragile contexts. By intertwining humanitarian, developmental, and environmental objectives within a local framework, AGORA actively engages communities in identifying and addressing their unique needs, ensuring interventions are both impactful and sustainable. Through its commitment to local empowerment, evidence-based planning, and fostering partnerships across scales, AGORA has successfully enhanced resilience, governance, and livelihoods in 17 countries, reaching over 2.5 million beneficiaries and showcasing the effectiveness of localized, participatory approaches in achieving lasting change.
Our Greening Strategy
Acted Canada’s Greening Strategy embodies our profound commitment to environmental stewardship as part of our vision for a sustainable future. Anchored in our foundational pillars—Mobilize, Measure, Reduce, Adapt, and Invest—we prioritize ecological integrity across all our initiatives. From intensifying cash programming to transitioning field offices to solar energy, we actively mitigate our carbon footprint, bolster resilience, and integrate greening practices within community development. Our efforts, which champion nature-based solutions and carbon sequestration, are vital steps toward our ambitious targets, including a 30% reduction in our carbon footprint by 2025. Acted Canada is dedicated not only to coexisting with our planet but nurturing it, ensuring that every action taken contributes to a robust environmental legacy.
Youth Engagement Program
Acted Canada’s Youth Engagement Program connects students with our global teams, offering them the chance to apply their research and skills in real-world settings. This initiative allows Canadian post secondary students to directly contribute to our humanitarian and development efforts, turning academic insights into practical action on the ground. Through mentorship and hands-on projects, participants enhance their expertise while making a tangible impact, showing our commitment to fostering the next generation of global citizens.
Acted Global flagship program
Acted Canada’s THRIVE initiative is our flagship program aimed at fostering holistic resilience in vulnerable environments. Grounded in the interdependence of ecosystems, livelihoods, and rural markets, THRIVE promotes a symbiotic relationship between these elements, ensuring they function collaboratively rather than in competition. By addressing the challenges of degradation and desertification through our REVIVE, EMERGE, and INTEGRATE pillars, we champion nature-based solutions, livelihood diversification, and social cohesion. THRIVE not only aligns with global sustainability goals but also embodies our commitment to zero exclusion, zero carbon, and zero poverty. Acted Canada is proud to be apart of the Nature Based Solution Community of Practice and continue to promote THRIVE as a sustainable and holistic solution to complex development issues.
